Reset Network Settings

Use this when a device will not connect to Wi‑Fi, keeps dropping, or says connected but nothing loads.

Warning: Resetting network settings can remove saved Wi‑Fi networks, VPN profiles, and some Bluetooth pairings. Make sure you know your Wi‑Fi password first.

Before You Start

  • Turn Wi‑Fi off and on.
  • Turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off.
  • Restart the device.
  • If possible, test a different network to confirm whether the issue is the device or the Wi‑Fi.

iPhone And iPad [iOS]

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select Transfer or Reset iPhone (or Transfer or Reset iPad).
  4. Select Reset.
  5. Select Reset Network Settings.
  6. Enter your passcode if prompted.
  7. Reconnect to Wi‑Fi (you may need to re-enter the password).

Android

Steps vary by device manufacturer and Android version.

Reset Wi‑Fi, Mobile, And Bluetooth

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select System (or General management).
  3. Select Reset options.
  4. Select Reset Wi‑Fi, mobile & Bluetooth (wording may vary).
  5. Select Reset settings.
  6. Reconnect to Wi‑Fi.

Forget And Rejoin The Wi‑Fi Network

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Network & internet.
  3. Select Wi‑Fi.
  4. Select the saved network.
  5. Select Forget.
  6. Rejoin the network and enter the password.

Windows 10 And 11

Network Reset

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Scroll to Advanced network settings.
  4. Select Network reset.
  5. Select Reset now.
  6. Restart the computer.

Forget And Rejoin Wi‑Fi

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Network & Internet.
  3. Select Wi‑Fi.
  4. Select Manage known networks.
  5. Select the network, then select Forget.
  6. Reconnect and enter the password.

macOS

Remove And Re-Add The Wi‑Fi Service

  1. Select the Apple menu, then select System Settings (or System Preferences).
  2. Select Network.
  3. Select Wi‑Fi in the left sidebar.
  4. Select (or the minus ) to remove the service.
  5. Select Add Service (or plus +) and add Wi‑Fi back.
  6. Reconnect to the Wi‑Fi network.

Forget And Rejoin Wi‑Fi

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Select Wi‑Fi.
  3. Find the saved network under known networks.
  4. Select Forget This Network.
  5. Rejoin and enter the password.

If It Still Does Not Work

  • Test with a second device on the same Wi‑Fi.
  • Write down the exact error message (for example, Unable to join, or No internet).
  • Note your device type and operating system version.
