How to Forget all HWS Networks (Wi-Fi) on iPhone, iPad, and Android Devices

Overview

If you're having trouble connecting to HWS-Private, HWS-Public, or eduroam, forgetting all the saved wireless networks and reconnecting can often resolve common connection issues.

Use the instructions below to remove the saved networks from your device and then reconnect.


iPhone and iPad (iOS)

Forget the Wi-Fi Networks

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi.
  3. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned On.
  4. Locate the following networks:
    • HWS-Private
    • HWS-Public
    • eduroam
  5. Tap the ⓘ (Information) icon next to the network name.
  6. Tap Forget This Network.
  7. Tap Forget to confirm.
  8. Do the same for all 3 networks

Reconnect

  1. Return to the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  2. Select the appropriate network:
    • HWS-Private – For faculty, staff, and students using managed devices or personal devices configured for secure access.
    • HWS-Public – For guests or devices that do not require secure authentication.
    • eduroam – For students, faculty, and staff using their institutional credentials.
  3. Enter your credentials if prompted.
  4. Wait for the device to reconnect.

Android Devices

Note: Menu names may vary slightly depending on the device manufacturer (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) and Android version.

Forget the Wi-Fi Networks

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Network & Internet or Connections.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi.
  4. Select the following saved networks:
    • HWS-Private
    • HWS-Public
    • eduroam
  5. Tap Forget.

Reconnect

  1. From the available Wi-Fi networks, select:
    • HWS-Private
    • HWS-Public
    • eduroam
  2. Enter your username and password if prompted.
  3. Wait for the connection to complete.

Troubleshooting Tips

If you're still unable to connect after forgetting and reconnecting:

  • Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
  • Restart your phone or tablet.
  • Verify that you're using the correct HWS username and password.
  • Make sure your account password has not recently changed.
  • If using eduroam, ensure your username is entered in the correct format (User-first.lastname@hws.edu, Password-Latest password)

When Should I Forget a Network?

Forgetting a saved Wi-Fi network is recommended when:

  • Your device repeatedly fails to connect.
  • You recently changed your HWS password.
  • Authentication keeps failing.
  • Your device says "Connected, No Internet."
  • You are asked to reconnect after changes to the campus wireless network.
