If you need to scan and attach documents to a student record in Slate for Student Success, first contact the Help Desk to install a specific printer driver for you to be able to use a campus Ricoh MFD printer. After you have this driver installed, use the instructions below to scan and attach the documents.
To scan and attach documents in Slate for Student Success:
- Have your documents prepped and ready in a printer
- Go to Slate at
- Log in with your HWS credentials
- Under Database (gear icon) click Batch Acquire
- If you have multiple files, you will need to print a QR code and put that between your files so Slate knows when to make a break between documents: click Print Document Separator
- Click Database (gear icon) > Batch Acquire > Batch Scan
- Fill in the Batch Name and Materials fields:
- Enter Batch Name as the desired name for reference
- Enter Materials as the material type, or leave it unassigned and assign material type later

- Click Scan
This will open a scanner window.
- If the browser pop-up appears, click Approve
- In the RICOH Scanner Driver window, adjust the settings:
- Set Orientation
- If you are using the feeder, set Original Scan Method to ADF Standard
- If you are scanning on the glass set Original Scan Method to Exposure Glass
- If you need to change the scanner, click Selct. Specfd. Scnner. (you will need a serial number or IP address that can be found in scanner settings)

- Click Scan
Your scanned documents will appear on the Batch Acquire page. If you had a separator, you will see multiple documents.
