Remote Access to Public Desktop Campus Computers

Summary (what you get):

To ensure both faculty and students have flexible and reliable access to the wide variety of software tools the Colleges supports in campus computing labs, HWS has invested in a tool that allows for managed access to public desktop computers. Students (using their own devices) who need specialized software installed to campus computers (all computer labs--both Mac and PC), during class or other designated work times, will be able to gain access to complete their assigned work.

Services included:

Classes that are being taught synchronously and require in-class access will be given dedicated time on lab machines. Only students enrolled students in the course will have access at that time. This means that students will have access for their course needs.

Students who are working asynchronously, or who may be working outside of the designated times for their class on a project, will have access to labs remotely on a first-come-first-serve basis for computers that are not in use, in step with practices of previous semesters. This will include labs that are not in use for designated classes, and the majority of lab machines during off hours when classes are not being taught.

When customer receives it:

Upon request. IT Services and OAFA will send a needs request survey to Faculty prior to the start of the semester.
