Stream SpectrumU on Apple TV

Before You Start

SpectrumU is a streaming service that lets you watch live TV and on-demand content. It is free for HWS students, faculty, and staff.

  • Your Apple TV must be connected to the HWS-Private network
  • You will need a computer or smartphone to complete activation

Download and Activate the SpectrumU App

1. Go to the Apple App Store

2. Download  SpectrumU TV

3. Open the SpectrumU TV App

Note: it should display the SpectrumU Let's Get Started activation screen

4. From a computer or smartphone, visit watch.spectrum.net/activate

5. Enter the activation code displayed on the AppleTV

6. Click Submit

7. In the Enter your school domain dialog, enter hws.edu

8. Click Submit

9. Once the activation code has been verified, you will be redirected to the HWS login portal; enter your HWS username and password

10. Click Log in

11. After signing on, you will be redirected back to the activation page


Note: After a few moments, the app will update from the activation screen and display live TV.

TV Streaming
HWS provides free TV streaming through SpectrumU. Students and employees can access up to 80 TV Channel apps, such as popular entertainment, international, and sports channels (see below) using your HWS credentials. Along with live TV, SpectrumU offers a sizeable on-demand library with previous episodes, full series, and hit movies when you watch on campus. You can also record up to 20 shows and watch them anytime using cloud DVR for on-campus viewing.
