What Standards Does Our Network Support?
Our access points support 802.11a/b/g/n on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, with a maximum speed of 450 Mbps. Actual speeds will vary depending on interference, your distance from the access point, and your device.
How Secure Is the Wireless Network?
HWS-Private uses WPA2 Enterprise encryption with the AES cipher, a high security standard. Your data is encrypted while connected to HWS-Private.
How Fast Is a Wireless Connection?
Wireless is slower than a wired Ethernet connection, but fast enough for most activities like browsing, streaming, and video calls. Speed depends on signal strength, your device, and how many people are using the network nearby.
How Does the Number of Users Affect Speed?
Speeds slow down as more people connect to the same access point. Your connection quality depends on:
- How many users are nearby
- Your distance from the access point
- The building layout and construction
Are There Health Concerns with Wi-Fi?
No. International health agencies, including the World Health Organization and Wi-Fi Alliance, have found no evidence that Wi-Fi poses health risks. Wi-Fi uses non-ionizing radiation, similar to radio signals and visible light.
Does Bluetooth Interfere with Wi-Fi?
Bluetooth uses the same 2.4 GHz band as Wi-Fi, but transmits at much lower power and shorter range. It should not interfere with your wireless connection.
