Body
Slate users must regularly monitor messages in their inbox gateway for matches to Slate records. Slate scans the body of the e-mail, in addition to the Sender and Recipient rows, to better identify possible matches.
Messages received by the inbox gateway that match an existing recipient e-mail address appear on the record's timeline after at least 15 minutes. If an e-mail address appears on more than one record, then a received e-mail will appear on both records. This is considered a "soft match." To make a "hard match" for a message, a user must assign the message to the appropriate record.
The inbox gateway will provide you with a list of possible matches.
To Assign an E-mail Message to a Slate Record
Open each message to select a record and assign the message to the appropriate record. Slate provides a suggested record if a matching e-mail address is found.
Select the suggested record to assign the messages to that record, or search for other existing records.

Wait at least 15 minutes after sending the message before checking the gateway inbox to assign messages to records.
