Reset Network Settings
Use this when a device will not connect to Wi‑Fi, keeps dropping, or says connected but nothing loads.
Warning: Resetting network settings can remove saved Wi‑Fi networks, VPN profiles, and some Bluetooth pairings. Make sure you know your Wi‑Fi password first.
Before You Start
- Turn Wi‑Fi off and on.
- Turn Airplane Mode on for 10 seconds, then off.
- Restart the device.
- If possible, test a different network to confirm whether the issue is the device or the Wi‑Fi.
iPhone And iPad [iOS]
- Open Settings.
- Select General.
- Select Transfer or Reset iPhone (or Transfer or Reset iPad).
- Select Reset.
- Select Reset Network Settings.
- Enter your passcode if prompted.
- Reconnect to Wi‑Fi (you may need to re-enter the password).
Android
Steps vary by device manufacturer and Android version.
Reset Wi‑Fi, Mobile, And Bluetooth
- Open Settings.
- Select System (or General management).
- Select Reset options.
- Select Reset Wi‑Fi, mobile & Bluetooth (wording may vary).
- Select Reset settings.
- Reconnect to Wi‑Fi.
Forget And Rejoin The Wi‑Fi Network
- Open Settings.
- Select Network & internet.
- Select Wi‑Fi.
- Select the saved network.
- Select Forget.
- Rejoin the network and enter the password.
Windows 10 And 11
Network Reset
- Open Settings.
- Select Network & Internet.
- Scroll to Advanced network settings.
- Select Network reset.
- Select Reset now.
- Restart the computer.
Forget And Rejoin Wi‑Fi
- Open Settings.
- Select Network & Internet.
- Select Wi‑Fi.
- Select Manage known networks.
- Select the network, then select Forget.
- Reconnect and enter the password.
macOS
Remove And Re-Add The Wi‑Fi Service
- Select the Apple menu, then select System Settings (or System Preferences).
- Select Network.
- Select Wi‑Fi in the left sidebar.
- Select … (or the minus –) to remove the service.
- Select Add Service (or plus +) and add Wi‑Fi back.
- Reconnect to the Wi‑Fi network.
Forget And Rejoin Wi‑Fi
- Open System Settings.
- Select Wi‑Fi.
- Find the saved network under known networks.
- Select Forget This Network.
- Rejoin and enter the password.
If It Still Does Not Work
- Test with a second device on the same Wi‑Fi.
- Write down the exact error message (for example, Unable to join, or No internet).
- Note your device type and operating system version.
