Add Printing Credits to Your PaperCut Account Using Cash/Credit or by Utilizing PayPal
Overview
Students can add money to their PaperCut printing account via two methods:
- Cash or Credit at the Post Office
- Online using the PayPal payment option. You can use an existing PayPal account or, when available, pay with a debit or credit card without having a PayPal account.
PaperCut's payment gateway allows students to select a predefined amount, complete payment through PayPal, and have the funds added to their PaperCut balance.
Method One: Cash or Credit at the Post Office
Credits can be purchased at the Post Office, located in the Scandling Center, using Cash or Credit during business hours, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm.
What You Will Need
- Cash or a debit/credit card
Step 1: Go to the Post Office Shipping Window
Staff at the Post Office will provide you with a receipt of payment
Step 2: Go to the IT Help Desk
Bring your receipt to the IT Help Desk and full time staff will credit your print account
Method Two: Adding Credits through PaperCut's PayPal integration
What You Will Need
- Your HWS network username and password
- Access to the HWS PaperCut User Web interface PRINTIT.HWS.edu
- A valid payment method of either a PayPal account or a debit/credit card
Step 1: Open PaperCut
Open the PaperCut User Web interface at PRINTIT.HWS.edu and sign in with your HWS credentials.
After signing in, you will see your PaperCut account summary, including your current printing balance.
Step 2: Add Credits
- Add desired amount
- Select CONTINUE

Step 3: Complete your PayPal Payment
PaperCut will redirect you to the PayPal payment page, follow instructions to complete payment.

At this point, you can either:
Option 1 – Pay with PayPal
Sign in using your PayPal account and complete the payment.
Option 2 – Pay with a Debit or Credit Card
If available, select the option to Pay with Debit or Credit Card and follow the instructions to enter your card information.
You do not necessarily need a PayPal account to complete the transaction when the card-payment option is enabled.
Step 5: Confirm the Payment
After completing your payment, PayPal will display a confirmation.
Follow the Return to PaperCut or similar option to return to your PaperCut account.
PaperCut should display a confirmation that the funds were added, and your new balance should be displayed. PaperCut's documentation notes that the balance may occasionally take a short time to update if there is a delay in communication between PayPal and PaperCut.
Step 6: Verify Your Transaction
To confirm that the payment was applied, select Transaction History from the PaperCut menu.
Your payment should appear as a transaction and your PaperCut balance should reflect the amount added.

If Your Balance Does Not Update
If you completed the PayPal payment but do not immediately see the funds in PaperCut:
-
Wait a few minutes.
-
Refresh the PaperCut page.
-
Log out of PaperCut and log back in.
-
Check Transaction History.
-
Verify that the PayPal transaction was completed successfully.
PaperCut notes that a temporary communication delay can sometimes cause the payment confirmation to reach PaperCut after the user returns from PayPal.
If the payment was completed but your PaperCut balance still has not been updated, contact the HWS IT Help Desk for assistance. Refunds back to your payment card can be completed if you provide proof of payment to PayPal through a receipt or bank statement that has been redacted of all other information besides your name and date and information regarding this transaction.
