Choosing and Troubleshooting Audio in a Zoom Meeting

There are multiple ways to connect audio to a Zoom meeting.

Using a device with an integrated webcam

  1. If you are using a webcam that is integrated into your computer, you can click "Join with Computer Audio" and Zoom will automatically use the integrated microphone in the computer's web cam.

Using a computer with an external microphone

When you join the meeting click "Test speaker and microphone"

  1. In the microphone section, you will see the blue Input Level bar move when Zoom is picking up audio.
  2. If Zoom is not picking up your microphone or you want to use a different one, you can select another microphone from the menu or adjust the input level.

If you have joined the meeting and want to change the microphone after the fact

  1. Click the carrot next to the microphone, in the bottom left corner of the meeting
  2. Choose a microphone from the list

For in-depth directions on joining a meeting, view the documentation below:

If the computer isn't an option, the meeting was set up to only allow people to participate via phone.
