Summary (what you get)
The Dock is a personalized portal to give students a centralized space to manage their information and access the resources that support their journey, while giving staff the tools they need to guide and assist students along the way.
Services include
For Students
The Dock (https://success.hws.edu/portal/dock) provides a single place to view academic information and campus resources. These include the following:
- Academic information including class schedule for the current term, adviser, and Success Network listing
- Personal information on file (address, phone, preferred/pronunciation name) with links to update it
- Name pronunciation recording ("Say My Name") so faculty and staff can hear how each name is said
- Campus Resources directory — searchable office/department directory with contact info
- Campus events and announcements
- Access to relevant forms tied to the student record
For Faculty/Staff
The Dock uses Slate's Student Success tools to provide role-based access to relevant dashboards for student record information and workflows supporting student success. These include the following:
When you receive it
Students receive access automatically, once enrolled at HWS. Each Dock account is provisioned using the student record — no separate request or setup is needed.
Faculty/staff users receive access upon request and rollout of dedicated department sections in Slate.
Service does not include
- Direct editing of student or official academic records (schedule changes, grade changes, registration) — those still go through the Registrar or adviser in PeopleSoft
- Real-time sync with PeopleSoft (data refreshes on a schedule, not instantly)
- Access beyond the scope of the user's role
Related information
- Registrar's Office — registration, transcripts, academic records
- IT Help Desk — login/account access issues
