Installing and Using a Document Camera

Before You Start

A document camera lets you display physical documents, books, or objects on screen during presentations or Zoom meetings. Most HWS classrooms already have a document camera and the required software (IPEVO Visualizer) installed on the classroom computer. If you're using a classroom setup, you can skip ahead to step 3.

If you're using your own laptop or a personal computer, start with step 1 to download the software.

Install and Set Up the Document Camera

  1. Download the appropriate IPEVO Visualizer software for your operating system from the IPEVO Visualizer download page.
    1. Click Download.
    2. Select the version for your operating system (macOS or Windows) and follow the installation prompts.
  2. Plug the document camera's USB cable into your computer.
  3. Open the Visualizer software. It should now display the image from the document camera.

Note: If the image does not display or the wrong camera is shown, click Select Camera in the top left corner to choose the correct device.

Sharing Over Zoom

There are multiple ways to share a document camera over Zoom. Some methods may prevent students from seeing everything on screen. For detailed instructions, see How do I Share What is on my Screen in a Zoom Meeting.
