Bulletins and Maintenance

IT Services is dedicated to providing a high level of system up-time throughout the academic year. In order to achieve this service level, we perform periodic maintenance activities on core equipment comprised of network switches, servers, telecommunications equipment, and wireless access points. To minimize disruption to the Colleges' business, we make every attempt to perform these activities during non-business hours, wherever possible.

Announcement - Multi-factor Authentication Security Upgrade

Date: December 15, 2021

Description: As we continue to strengthen our security related to systems that house our most sensitive institutional and personal information, beginning on December 19th, users will be required to complete the multifactor authentication each time they login into the following systems:

•    AleraEdge (health benefits administration)
•    Housing Director (student housing)
•    Kiteworks (secure file transfer service)
•    Maxient (student judicial management)
•    PeopleSoft - Campus Solutions, Financials, and Human Resources
•    Raiser’s Edge (advancement)
•    Slate (admissions)

The methods of authentication will remain as they are today; the only change is the frequency in which authentication will happen with this select set of systems.  All other systems (Canvas, Zoom, Webmail, Box, etc.) will remain with the current MFA protocol (30-day trusted device).

System Alert - Internet Restored

Date: December 13, 2021

Description: The Internet has been restored by our internet service provider.  You should now be able to access HWS systems on campus and through VPN.

Activity Explanation:

General Server, Network, and Telecom Maintenance means Intermittent outages on services such as e-mail, web sites, file servers, network printing, network connectivity, campus phone service, applications, etc.

PeopleSoft Refresh means Extended outage of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Finance, and Human Resources applications.

Canvas Maintenance means Instructure, our vendor for Canvas, will perform a brief maintenance in the early morning of the date identified. Canvas may be inaccessible for a period of two to three minutes during the established time period.
