Bulletins and Maintenance

IT Services is dedicated to providing a high level of system up-time throughout the academic year. In order to achieve this service level, we perform periodic maintenance activities on core equipment comprised of network switches, servers, telecommunications equipment, and wireless access points. To minimize disruption to the Colleges' business, we make every attempt to perform these activities during non-business hours, wherever possible.

Announcement – Adobe Expiration Notice

Date: Sept. 27, 2022

Information Technology has been made aware of a license expiration message that appears when launching a licensed version of Adobe. We are working with the vendor to get this notification removed and will update the Bulletins/Maintenance page on the IT Portal when it has been resolved.

To keep using the Adobe apps, please click the blue "Ok" button on the license pop up.

System Alert - Package Carrier Delays

Date: August 25, 2022

Please be aware that our package carriers, including UPS and FedEx, are experiencing delays in delivery today. When packages are received in and ready for pickup you will receive a communication from our Post Office. Please await this communication prior to coming to the Post Office window.

Thank you for your patience while we work with our carriers to get their deliveries to campus as quickly as possible.

Planned Maintenance - Planned Telephone Outage

Date: August 5, 2022

The Colleges’ telephone service provider (Lumen) will perform maintenance on their telephone infrastructure on Tuesday, August 9, between midnight and 3 a.m. This activity will cause an outage to the Colleges’ off-campus telephone service. Calls between offices will continue to work during this time, but service to off-campus locations will be interrupted for up to an hour.

System Alert – Microsoft Outlook Issue Resolved

Date: July 18, 2022

The Microsoft Outlook issue has been resolved. You should now be able to open Microsoft Outlook without an extensive wait time/failure. If you are still experiencing issues, use https://webmail365.hws.edu to access your email and place a ticket with details of your problem.

It appears that Microsoft Outlook is currently experiencing widespread issues including long startup time and not starting up at all. If you are experiencing these issues, please go to https://webmail365.hws.edu and log in with your HWS credentials to access your email.

We are troubleshooting this issue and will send another communication when this issue is resolved.

Activity Explanation:

General Server, Network, and Telecom Maintenance means intermittent outages on services such as e-mail, web sites, file servers, network printing, network connectivity, campus phone service, applications, etc.

PeopleSoft Refresh means extended outage of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Finance, and Human Resources applications.

Canvas Maintenance means Instructure, our vendor for Canvas, will perform a brief maintenance in the early morning of the date identified. Canvas may be inaccessible for a period of two to three minutes during the established time period.

System Updates means computer systems will receive security updates with some requiring a reboot when complete.
