Welcome to Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Below you will find information to help you with getting connected to HWS resources, about some of our most used tools, and other information that might be helpful during your first few days at HWS.

Your HWS username and password credentials will provide access to HWS e-mail, Canvas Learning Management System, Library Catalogs, PeopleSoft, Personal Network File Storage, Secure Remote Access (VPN), Wireless Network, and many more services.

Equipment

Faculty and staff are provided a laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, USB hub, and display adapter

Incoming students bringing their own devices can refer to our guidelines for bringing a computer to campus for recommendations

Public desktop computers are provided for teaching, learning, and working in classrooms, computer labs, and the library

Equipment is available for loan to students, faculty, and staff

Mailing and Printing

Pick-up mail and packages at our full service post office

Students: Print to public printers using a public desktop computer. To print from a personal computer or add print credits use https://printit.hws.edu

Faculty: Print to departmental printers from your HWS issued devices

For posters and large amounts of printing, order from our professional print shop

Productivity

All students, faculty, and staff have access to Microsoft 365, which includes Microsoft office; learn how to download it onto your computer

File storage options include network space and cloud storage like Box and OneDrive

Video meeting/chat options include Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Teaching and Learning

Individualized instructional technology and design support is offered by the Digital Learning Team

Class project help and individualized software instruction is provided through web based video tutorials or by requesting one-on-one support

Canvas (the learning management system) resources for faculty and students

PeopleSoft (campus solutions, human resources, financials) is a central location for various types of information, including class schedules, students and enrollment information, advising status, grades, transcripts, etc.
