Follow these steps to use the scanner in the Ricoh Printers
1) Select “Scanner (classic)”:

2) On the “Ready” page, select “Manual Entry” to enter your email and click “OK”:

3) After confirming your email, you will automatically return to the “Ready Page.” Now,
begin to customize the scanner settings by selecting “Scan Settings”:

4) The “Scan Settings” page organizes options into different tabs, which may be useful
to you if your original document has uncommon attributes (unique size, shiny color pictures, etc).
Usually, the default settings are sufficient. However, if you find that your photocopies are
getting cut off, you may want to come here and make
adjustments under “Scan Size.” It will allow you to manually select the size of your
original document or set it to “Auto Detect.” When you are done, select “OK”:

5) The scanner is automatically set to scan a one-sided document. If you wish to
change this, select “Original Feed Type”:

6) You can change the setting to either “Two Sided Original” or “Book Type Original.”
The latter will first scan the page on the left, then the right. I recommend testing these settings to see which is better for you:

7) Finally, if your original document consists of multiple pages that you wish to
combine into one PDF, go back to the “Ready” page and select “Send File Type”:

8) This step is important! Select “Multi-Page.” This will allow you to scan multiple
pages into one pdf document. Select “OK” when you’re done:

9) Once you are done adjusting all your settings, it’s time to place your original
document on the scanner. Align the document with the top-left corner of the
scanner. Make sure the document is correctly oriented: the top of the document will
be closest to the wall, the bottom of the document will be closer to you.
10) Before closing the lid of the scanner, you may also want to check the integrity of the
book binding. Delicate books can get damaged in this process. The flatter and straighter
the document can lie on the scanner, the better your pdf will be:

11) Every time you are ready to scan a page, select the big, green “Start” button. This will
activate the scanner. You should see a dialogue box pop up to tell you how many
pages in total are in your scan project:

12) To add more pages, turn the page of your original document and press the green
“Start” button again. Continue to do this until you have scanned all pages.
13) To finish the scan and send the pdf to yourself, select the “#” button on the right.:

14) After a few minutes, you will find an email from RICOHMFD@hws.edu with a pdf.
This is your scanned document. Rename and save for convenience.

15) To finish using the scanner, double-check that you have retrieved your original
document, then select the “home” button at the bottom of the screen.
