Update Your Operating System [MacOS]

Operating system updates are vitally important to complete to optimize performance and protect against potential security risks. Updates address newly identified bugs, issues, and potential security vulnerabilities. Not performing operating system updates may impact the stability of your Operating System.

Mac OS Updates (10.12 and up)

Mac OS Updates (10.11 and below)

Mac OS Updates (10.12 and above)

1. In the upper left, click the Apple Menu

2. In the drop down menu, click System Preferences

3. In the System Preferences window, click Software Update

4. The Software Update window will open

5. At the bottom of the window, check Automatically keep my mac up to date

5. For OS upgrades, at the top, click Upgrade Now

6. For security and app updates, in the middle, click More info

7. In the Update window, on the left, next to each update, check the boxes

8. At the bottom, click Install Now

Mac OS Updates (10.11 and below)

1. In the upper left, click the Apple Menu

2. In the drop down menu, click App Store or System Updates

3. In the app store window, next to the OS update, click Update
