Redirect or Forward Your HWS E-mail

Before You Start

Forwarding or redirecting your HWS email is only recommended if you are leaving HWS.

Which Should I Use?

Option Emails Appear From Replies Go To
Forward Your @hws.edu address Your @hws.edu address (not the original sender)
Redirect The original sender The original sender

Tip: Use Redirect if you want to reply directly to the original sender from your new email.


Forward All Messages

Forwarded messages appear to come from you. Replies go to your HWS email, not the original sender.

  1. Go to webmail.hws.edu
  2. Log in with your HWS username and password
  3. Click Submit
  4. Click the gear icon (upper right)
  5. Click Options
  6. Under Mail, click Inbox and sweep rules
  7. Click the plus symbol (+)
  8. In the Name field, type Email Forward
  9. Under "When the message arrives," select [Apply to all messages]
  10. Under "Do all of the following," select Forward, redirect or send > Forward the message to
  11. Enter or select the destination email address
  12. Click Save
  13. Click OK

Redirected messages appear to come from the original sender. Replies go directly to the original sender.

  1. Go to webmail.hws.edu
  2. Log in with your HWS username and password
  3. Click Submit
  4. Click the gear icon (upper right)
  5. Click Options
  6. Under Mail, click Inbox and sweep rules
  7. Click the plus symbol (+)
  8. In the Name field, type Email Redirect
  9. Under "When the message arrives," select [Apply to all messages]
  10. Under "Do all of the following," select Forward, redirect or send > Redirect the message to
  11. Enter or select the destination email address
  12. Click Save
  13. Click OK
