How to Verify the Pronunciation of Your Name in Namecoach

Namecoach in Canvas allows students and faculty to record the correct pronunciation of their names. This helps ensure everyone can address each other respectfully and accurately. By reducing the stress of mispronounced names, Namecoach promotes inclusion, strengthens classroom connections, and fosters a welcoming learning environment where all individuals feel valued and recognized.

Within Canvas, you can access Namecoach in any course in which you are enrolled, from the left-hand menu. There, you’ll see a class list. Each name will include a default, most common pronunciation. Every person has the opportunity to review and verify the pronunciation of their own name.
