Five Box Skills (video – 4 min.)

Create a Workspace

A workspace is an area for your personal files and folders. It will also display shared folders to which you have access. You have to create this the first time you log in.

Add Files to Your Workspace

You can drag and drop files right from you computer into Box or use the file uploader. Use the Upload button for various methods to upload files. Choices include: upload one file, upload an entire folder, drag and drop, and e-mail files to the folder.

Watch a Files and Uploading Tutorial (2 min.).

Create a New Folder

The folder is the basic building block where you'll group similar files together.

Follow the steps below to create a new folder:

  1. Click New, and from the menu that displays, click New Folder. The Create a New Folder dialog box displays.
  2. Enter the folder name
  3. (Optional) To enable others to access this folder, enter the e-mail addresses of each person to whom you want to grant access. Use a comma between each e-mail address.
  4. To control others' level of access -- for example, whether you want people to be able to make changes to folder contents or just to view files -- click the Permission down arrow and select the appropriate role (co-owner, editor, viewer, and so on) for the level of access you want to assign. For more information, see Understanding Folder Permissions.
  5. Need folders inside the first one? To create subfolders, just click the top-level folder to open it, and repeat the steps above.

Folder icons differ based on folder owner and collaboration status. For more information on folder permissions, see Understanding Folder Icons and Colors.

Find your Files

Use the Search box to find a file. Your search will look not only scan file names but also search in the text of files.

Collaborate with Comments and Tasks
