Video and audio can be embedded on different web pages, like Wordpress or Wix, as well as in browser based multimedia tools like Adobe Creative Cloud Express. In addition, embedding or sharing videos and audio files on Canvas is a good way to ensure students have access to course materials in one, easy to find location.
Best Practices
- When embedding a video in Canvas, always include a direct link to the video in addition to the embed in case people have trouble loading the video.
- It is advisable to also include a disclaimer for students, above the video, in clear text, that indicates that they may wish to try another browser or use the direct link if the video does not load.
- If you have videos stored locally on your computer it is recommended that you upload them to Panopto or Box before sharing with others or on Canvas.
Panopto

- Click Browse, on the left navigation
- Navigate to the folder containing the video or playlist you wish to share
- Hover on the video thumbnail, click Share
