Embedding and Sharing Videos

Video and audio can be embedded on different web pages, like wordpress or wix, as well as in browser based mult-media tools like Adobe Spark. In addition, embedding or sharing videos and audio files on Canvas is a good way to ensure students have access to course materials in one, easy to find location.

Best Practices

  • When embedding a video in Canvas, always include a direct link to the video in addition to the embed in case people have trouble loading the video.
  • It is advisable to also include a disclaimer for students, above the video, in clear text, that indicates that they may wish to try another browser or use the direct link if the video does not load.
  •  If you have videos stored locally on your computer it is recommended that you upload them to Box before sharing with others or on Canvas.

Follow the steps below or visit the Zoom support page for directions with screen shots.

  1. Sign in to Zoom using the web portal
  2. In the navigation menu, click Recordings
  3. Find the recording you want to view and click the topic. It is recommended to change the name or title of meetings when scheduling to make managing your recordings easier.
Note: If your meeting has not finished converting, the recording will show the list with a "processing recording" label. Once the recording has finished converting, you will be able to  view, share, download, or delete your cloud recording.
  4. Click Share to display the recording link information and sharing settings. This is also where you can disable the ability to download the video, restrict viewing of the video to HWS community members only, or password protect the video.
  5. Copy the shareable link to your cloud recording and place into Canvas in the desired location.

  1. Navigate to the media that you want to share in hws.box.com
